Raised as an orphan in Hidden Leaf, Kabuto picked up many medical skills. He later defected and joined Orochimaru to serve as his right hand man. Working as a spy, he learned his Sage Jutsu, perfected Ninjutsu and his signature scalpel chakra and generally became a feared and skilful predator. The next Naruto episode will shine some light into what Kabuto became. Naruto Shippuden 336 is entitled "Kabuto Yakushi". Join us in our Naruto forum for discussions and predictions.
“Those who cannot acknowledge themselves will fail… just like I did” stated Itachi as he interrogated his opponent. Kabuto recalled growing up training as medical ninja in an orphanage. One day he treated Orochimaru, who injured his hand in recent fight. Orochimaru noticed the lad and his medical skills and tried to persuade him to become a Shinobi. Kabuto loved his mother, nun Nonou, who had found him unconscious, adopted him and named him Kabuto.
Wandering Nun Nonou was once very skilled and Danzo, who just lost his top spy, was once again in need of her special espionage skills. He asked her to go to Hidden Stone to investigate a plot. She refused at first, but when she was told that no more money would go to the orphanage if she didn’t infiltrate the Ishigakure, she caved in and started packing. One more concession had to be made by the Orphanage. Small boy with medical skills needed to join Danzo and Orochimaru to become ninja. Kabuto has embarked on his journey to become Shinobi.
Years later he got surrounded by enemy forces. One ninja fell from a cliff straight onto Kabuto’s chakra scalpel. No sooner Kabuto lifted his head off the ground that he recognised his Orphanage mother slashed and bleeding. Kabuto applied all his medical know-how to save her, but to no avail. Young Kabuto couldn’t believe his eyes. The only person he ever cared about was dead. Distraught about the situation and his mother not recognising him, he was again confronted by Orochimaru and his persuading ways. Soon afterwards Kabuto became Orochimaru’s right hand man. Danzo later explained to the mother, that Kabuto left the Orphanage to save it from financial ruins.
Orochimaru admitted to Kabuto that the Foundation wanted both Nonou and Kabuto dead. Nonou could not remember the real Kabuto, because she was being fed lies through falsified pictures. Over the years she got many pictures of Kabuto’s impostor, somewhat resembling Kabuto. So, when she spotted the real Kabuto, she had no doubt that she was fighting an enemy. Orochimaru called this deception a ‘gradual brainwashing’.
In the end, Foundation sent out Orochimaru to kill Kabuto as he was the one surviving. Kabuto, still talking to Orochimaru, now signed his chakra scalpel and started slashing his opponent to a pulp. Blood was splashing all over the hideout and when Kabuto finally stopped, he observed a rebirth. The corpse released Orochimaru’s ghost, which materialised into a new body. Orochimaru kept on talking to Kabuto, explaining how he gathers and processes data, then stores new abilities within himself. Being reborn just means new and more evolved body.
Kabuto will not be killed today. Orochimaru had recognised Kabuto’s abilities and prepared a new research facility just for him. The plan was to create an entire village, sustainable and independent from all other nations, village of Hidden Sound. Kabuto will work along side of Orochimaru, his new father, brother and superior. His first task will be to infiltrate Akatsuki. Kabuto is later shown politely accepting Sasori’s orders to gather all Orochimaru’s data on Reanimation.
“If you’re not happy with what you’ve become, just find what you want and add it to yourself one by one”, Kabuto explains to Itachi. Sasuke wants to attack the sleazy snake, but Itachi stops him saying that Kabuto is now in charge of the battlefield and that Izanami isn’t ready yet.
