We meet again with Jiraiya in the this episode of Naruto Shippuden 187 entitled "Gutsy master and student: The Training". Jiraiya explains that in order for Naruto to compete with Sasuke (empowered by Sharingan) he must learn Genjutsu.

SUMMARY OF NARUTO SHIPPUDEN 187
In order to save Sasuke from Orochimaru, Naruto needs to learn Genjutsu. We meet up with Jiraiya, who teaches Naruto to create circular disturbance inside Naruto's body to pacify opponent's efforts to capture Naruto's chakra. Training was tough and brought up some laughter but Naruto found his way. Next, Jiraiya took Naruto to neighboring village where he expected to train Naruto to battle against magnetic field that affects chakra flow into one's brain. Once in the village, they find out that village was under siege by brutal Kandachi. Tanishi's dad Sukune was killed trying to oppose the occupation, so Tanishi tries to convince Jiraiya and Naruto to stand down and to be submissive. Jiraiya has other plan in mind however, when he pretends to be captive to get close to Kandachi.
Let's watch Naruto Shippuden episode 188 entitled "Record of the Gutsy ninja master and student" to see how this siege evolves and whether Jiraiya and Naruto's determination to save the villagers will be successful.
