Fairy Tail 130 * Fairy Tail Guild gets unexpected visitors. Wendy, Natsu, all recognize the three wizards as Coco, Hughes and Sugar Boy, but they don't know Fairy Tail. All they want is Lucy Heartfilia. Nicely, or by force! Fairy Tail is not giving up on one of their own. Not without a fight! The title of this Fairy tail episode 130 is “Targeted Lucy”. Now having seen three episodes straight, I think these fillers don’t exactly have the same level of quality as their manga versions. Although, not exactly terrible, they are best left wanting, compare to the manga. However, the episodes are still good enough to warrant your attention. This episode begins when Earthland versions of Hughes, Coco, and Sugarboy, attack and destroy Fairy Tail. Now it’s kind unusual to see run of the mill villains, get the better of Fairy Tail’s group, considering that they just defeated Grimoire Heart in the last arc. Anyway, in this episode we get recycled characters with souped up powers that work in a very annoying way. Apparently they have been created to counter the unique powers of Fairy Tail’s members.

Take for instance, Hughes, who is a girl in Earthland and has the ability to control pretty much anyone who is human, with no possible way or resisting it. This is similar to the character from the Tower of Heaven episode, who wraps you up in hair to control you. Good thing Lucy doesn’t consider Hughes powers, too much of a problem.

Next is Coco, who is similar to her Earthland self, except here, she isn’t the kind Coco of Edolas, but more of a pesky little girl. She possesses that athletic magic and apparently here the writers just boosted those powers.

I find SugarBoy to be the most annoying character in this series. Strangely he keeps saying “Spicy”, every other sentence and apparently suffers from schizophrenia as he keeps randomly adding English words into his speech and not making any sense at all. Now Sugarboy in Edolas was bad enough, but here it just goes over the top. His special attacks are also plainly annoying and looks like it has been souped up on anime steroids. Imagine green goo which can drain magic and get stronger from doing it.

Anyway, I’d like to say that at least there is on commendable character here. Byro who can get away looking like a real bad ass, while riding on a giant squid. In this episode, it is Gildart who fights him which makes for a pretty great battle sequence. Byro has these powers to also nullify powers that are directed against him, making Gildarts powers, virtually useless. I still think that these powers were souped up to make a convenient counter group to Fairy Tail’s characters.

[GoogleAd]So to continue we eventually discover in episode 131 why the three are currently here and where they had just come from. Surprisingly all four of them belong to a religious cult, with Byro as the high priest and their main objective is to steal the “key” that Lucy received as a memento from her father. Which makes me wonder why go in right away with all guns blazing, when you could have at least tried to sneak in and steal it without any fuss.

Anyway, near the end of the episode, we get to see Gray and Erza once more, with Gray using his ice magic in helping Natsu fight Sugarboy. Erza also takes down Byro, by using magic to re equip herself, and also pairing up with Gildarts.

Now as the battle gets going, Hughes finds the chance to take the key away from Lucy and alerts the others. So they run off with the key with Fairy Tail in hot pursuit.

In it’s entirety, I did find moments when the filler was absolutely hilarious. The story can be pretty much predictable, and somewhat cliché. Again, its not exactly that bad, however, not exactly good either. Pretty much more on the mediocre I’d say. I’ll be paying attention to the next episodes and hope it those eventually get better.

Episode Preview:
Next week still focuses more on the Earthland legion. I’ll be posting the reviews right away.
