* The title of this Fairy tail episode 128 is “Father's Memento”. Lucy's relative Michelle shows up at the doorstep. Just like that! Michelle brings Lucy a big box as a memento from her father. Lucy is happy to see Michelle, but is there more to this than gift giving? Visit us in TailedFox Anime Forum for discussions. Download Fairy Tail 128 in HD!
Now relative to Fairy Tail’s first forays into the filler aspects, this episode is definitely much better though it is a little bit staid. The recent episodes have at best been mediocre compared to the more exciting and interesting plot that we have seen in the manga version. I’d like to point out though that the trademark humor of the manga version has been excellently adapted to the screen version. It generally offsets the gloomier tone of the episode. The new supporting characters introduction was also generously sprinkled with that trademark Fairy Tail humor.
In this episode we also see a mechanical teddy with a predisposition to burning churches, and only churches, and the introduction of Michelle Lobster also reveals that her family was lost in the region. I also think that some connection will be shown later in the series. Marie’s role is more ambiguous, but it somehow appears that she is connected with the bomb attacks on the churches. If you can recall traditional anime themes, evil villains are often presented with a troubled past, and on the surface would initially appear to be nice and even clumsy, but eventually will be revealed to have a sinister agenda.
Going back to the episode though, Michelle is presented as a relative of Lucy and her father, and that the key in this episode was a gift to Lucy by her father. Michelle also has the odd sounding family name of Lobster. Apparently, the writers were in a daze, when they decided to call her Lobster, like she came from the Sponge Bob Squarepants animation series.
Apparently this episode is about Michelle’s introduction into the series and how she fits into Lucy’s life, and it will be interesting to see how she acts as the “big sister”. The writers also capitalized on Lucy’s hilarious antics during the bandit sequence.
[GoogleAd]Although Lucy’s fan service antics and the way it often blows up in her face can be funny, somehow the situation goes overboard as we see Lucy immediately stripping down to her swim suit when she is robbed. I mean its silly to go to that right away when it can get you into more trouble. Think about it if you were the bandit and a women stripping down and making suggestive poses, what would you do? However, in this series, all the bandits wanted to be women, so I guess, she is going to get away with that one.
Anyway, the last few minutes of this episode got moving as we see Alzack and Bisca’s daughter Asca, with Makarov. He seemed to make a very good grand father and the little girl was really cute as she was enjoying herself. This was a great filler for the side characters though.
Lastly, the part where Michelle Lobster suggests to Lucy that the guild should determine what the key, then “accidentally”, drop the key to activate it hardly seems to be coincidence. I’m still glued to my seats to see what happens next, and hopefully the episode gets better as we go on.
