Kiba Akamaru calls for a race and hopes to win it. There are prizes to be won and Choji never loses when there is food on the line (or so he says). Shikamaru is timing it. Naruto buds in as always in his obnoxious demeanor. Race is on and Kiba wins. Next we see, how Kiba woke up and realized it was just as dream, or a memory.
Kiba hearing nothing but how great Naruto was and how he saved the Hidden Leaf Village, decided to go train to be better than Naruto. Kakashi saw him training and stopped by. Kiba asked him to become his sensei and help him get better than Naruto. Kakashi liked the challenge and signed Ninja Art: Summoning and Fang Pursuit Jutsu. Kiba got pinned by dozen of dogs lead by Pakkun with his scroll and Kakashi left.
Kiba tried Fang over Fang on these dogs, but always fell on his face. Frustrated and angry he quit and started walking away from these dogs. Akamaru didn't like to quit, snatched Kiba on his back and brought him to the place where they all used to train in academy days. Hinata was there training. Naruto was always trying to beat Kiba. One day, after many unsuccessful attempts he made it and beat Kiba's time. Just like Kiba, he cut his time of 3:33 into the tree.
Kiba determined to be better than Naruto, take that scroll from these dogs and maybe get trained by Kakashi, came back and confronted these dogs. He signed Beast Mimicry, Man Beast Clone and charged again in his Fang over Fang, missing Akamaru only by a hair avoiding a head on collision. He then signed Beast Team Transformation. As they were about to charge dogs created a huge cloud distraction, making it impossible for Kiba to see. Pakkun told him that he would not be able to recognized the real him among dozens of his clones and that he would not know where he actually is. Here Kiba realized that in order to find him he needs to sniff him out. This worked well, as Kiba overpowered Pakkun and took his scroll. Kakashi was impressed when he found out about Kiba's success. Last scene showed Kiba beating Naruto's time carved in the tree. The time read 2:58.
