In last week's episode of Fairy Tail 107, one of the Fairy Tail guild members did something foolish, putting one of their own in danger. And this week in Fairy Tail 108, another guild member did something selfish. This is the time when Fairy Tail is facing the most critical challenge, but it looks like that this member is more concern about the rank exam. But before that, there are some other interesting stuff in this episode.
Capricorn happens to be a merger between the spirit Capricorn and his human master. He also have a past with Layla Heartfilea, Lucy's mother. It would be an interesting twist if Capricorn was trying to become human to be with Layla, but ended up to be rejected because she had a husband and a daughter. In that way, Capricorn will have a good reason to be angry, even if Layla doesn't love him. But instead, it is revealed that Layla passed her keys to her servants. One of those servants was blinded by dark magic and joined the Dark Guild. It's good that Capricorn is now on Lucy's side, but it would also be great if Celestial Spirits are different but balanced, meaning they can also be evil and not always good beings. It may not be the best resolution, but it's sensible. These two twists could have been splitted into two episodes and the Human merger should have lasted for at least a week.
Natsu takes on Ultear. But, it would be much better if Gray had the chance to do this on Ultear. Ultear is the daughter of Ul, and it would have some great spark if Gray will fight his mentor's daughter. Natsu already defeated a Godslayer, it would be nice if Gray will handle this battle and let Natsu take a break. Gray needs a great exposure too, it looks like he doesn't have a real opponent in this chapter. So far, the battle between Natsu and Ultear is still unpredictable, but Ultear is definitely winning. Meanwhile, Erza and Juvia fight with the Robo girl, who fights like a robot. She has the blades called "sensory blades." However, Juvia's power is crippled because she can't use her body's water-like properties.
And now, the ultimate major piece in this episode is Cana's unbelievable decision. She decided to screw everything and just concentrated on becoming an S Class Mage. She may have her own reasons, but those are not enough to let her friends down specially in a war like this. It was so selfish of her to ever think of that decision. Because of what she did, Cana has divided Fairy Tail's strength and force. Lucy, Gray and Cana have to stay together, but she deceived them both and splitting them up. And after that, Cana knock Lucy unconscious and made her vulnerable from an attack. Everyone realized that it's very important to stay together, and work as one, but Cana went ahead and left her friends in danger. And it's now clear why she never achieved an S-Class Mage rank before, because she has a selfish heart.
